Yup, it sure was. I came up with some more unconventional weapons. CDs can be broken and used as slashing weapons (actually used this the other day...). DVD cases also hurt if the corner of one hits you in the nose. Hot coffee, tea, soup, or anything else hot enough you would probably rather blow before you consume it can be thrown in the face of a would be attacker (The Punisher reminded me of that). I also saw somebody draw blood with a metal trash can lid about a month ago."
